Mill Creek Swim and Dive has provided me with opportunities to find community and friendship. During my time on the swim team I have made a countless number of friends and I have grown closer with people just by spending time together at meets and practices. It has also provided me with opportunities to grow as a leader because I was chosen as a Captain this past year and in prior years by being a leader to the younger swimmers. I have also created relationships with my coaches that have helped me grow not only in swimming, but also outside of the pool. They have helped me grow as a person and helped me become someone who is a hard worker and is motivated to achieve their goals. Overall, the team has given me something that I have been a part of all four years and have experienced highs and lows and have found community. It has been something I identify closely with because I have spent a large part of my high school career swimming.
I am currently planning on attending the United States Military Academy at West Point and I plan to major in Spanish. After I graduate, I will commission as a 2nd Lieutenant and spend time in the Infantry Branch of the Army.

Mill Creek swim team has taught me many valuable lessons about perseverance, self esteem, goal-setting, and sportsmanship. Over the years I’ve been on the team, it’s been an honor to be a part of the school spirit, connect with other people from around the county, and continue enjoying a sport I’ve loved since elementary school.
I’d like to pursue a career in aerospace engineering to design, build, and fly rockets and spacecraft. I’m excited about the renewed interest for continuing humanity’s exploration of space, and I’d like to be apart of the effort in sending the first people to Mars. In addition, I look forward to continue participating in volunteer opportunities and finding more ways to contribute/support the community wherever I go.

Coming into high school, I had suffered a debilitating ankle injury that forced me out of swimming. After surgery, boots, and years of rehab, I was finally able to return to swimming Junior year. I will be forever grateful for this Mill Creek Swim & Dive family that stayed in my corner and pushed me to keep enduring and getting back into the water.
In the future, after college, I plan on going into corporate social responsibility, working for a Fortune 500 company to promote sustainability, social justice, and community development. I also aspire on becoming a public servant working to better my community and later potentially rising to become President of the United States.
