Our Seniors

Hunter Dunnington

Mill Creek Swim and Dive has provided me with opportunities to find community and friendship. During my time on the swim team I have made a countless number of friends and I have grown closer with people just by spending time together at meets and practices. It has also provided me with opportunities to grow as a leader because I was chosen as a Captain this past year and in prior years by being a leader to the younger swimmers. I have also created relationships with my coaches that have helped me grow not only in swimming, but also outside of the pool. They have helped me grow as a person and helped me become someone who is a hard worker and is motivated to achieve their goals. Overall, the team has given me something that I have been a part of all four years and have experienced highs and lows and have found community. It has been something I identify closely with because I have spent a large part of my high school career swimming.

I am currently planning on attending the United States Military Academy at West Point and I plan to major in Spanish. After I graduate, I will commission as a 2nd Lieutenant and spend time in the Infantry Branch of the Army.

Joseph Henley

Swim has made me a much stronger and more fit person. The team has also helped me have a better attituded about things and also a better teammate.

I will be majoring in mechanical engineering at an undecided college and then going into the amusement ride industry to become a full ride mechanic and/or a roller-coaster designer.

Zac Kohberger

MC Swim & Dive has given me new skills, taught me to push myself, be committed and enjoy the journey. I am grateful for the friends I've made throughout my time on the diving team.

When I graduate from Mill Creek I hope to be an automotive tech that specializes in custom built cars, the faster and the louder the better!

Over the past four years, Mill Creek Swim and Dive has provided me with sincere friendships and leadership opportunities. I learned the importance of good sportsmanship and the ability to embrace failure as well as success. overall, the team has aided in my personal growth , and I will treasure the memories that were made.

I plan to major in Early Childhood Education at Georgia College and State University.

Gabe Nixon

Mill Creek swim team has taught me many valuable lessons about perseverance, self esteem, goal-setting, and sportsmanship. Over the years I’ve been on the team, it’s been an honor to be a part of the school spirit, connect with other people from around the county, and continue enjoying a sport I’ve loved since elementary school.

I’d like to pursue a career in aerospace engineering to design, build, and fly rockets and spacecraft. I’m excited about the renewed interest for continuing humanity’s exploration of space, and I’d like to be apart of the effort in sending the first people to Mars. In addition, I look forward to continue participating in volunteer opportunities and finding more ways to contribute/support the community wherever I go.

HS Swim has positively impacted my life by teaching me about dedication, hard work, leadership and being part of a team. I appreciate the coaches and my parents for always being there for me and inspiring me to accomplish things I learned were possible.

I’ll be attending BYU and pursuing a degree in Marine Biology. My dream is to help rescue and save our oceans and animal life for all generations to enjoy for years to come.

Cory Shin

Coming into high school, I had suffered a debilitating ankle injury that forced me out of swimming. After surgery, boots, and years of rehab, I was finally able to return to swimming Junior year. I will be forever grateful for this Mill Creek Swim & Dive family that stayed in my corner and pushed me to keep enduring and getting back into the water.

In the future, after college, I plan on going into corporate social responsibility, working for a Fortune 500 company to promote sustainability, social justice, and community development. I also aspire on becoming a public servant working to better my community and later potentially rising to become President of the United States.

Kira Smith

Erica Tidwell

MC Swim and Dive has impacted my life by not wanting to give up on things I really want when it gets hard and to continue to push myself to be the best I can be. I will forever have the memories this team has provided me and the relationships I made with everyone along the way!

I’m attending Georgia Southern University and majoring in Public health with the plans to go into Health Service Administration.

Liza Vaitl

Mill Creek swim has motivated me to keep working to be my very best even when I’m tired. It has helped inspire me to push myself when things get difficult.

I hope to major in biochemistry and then going to medical school.

Mill Creek Swim and Dive has given me some of my best high school memories. It has been such a blessing to be a part of such an incredible team who lifts you up and makes you want to work harder every day. I am so thankful for the relationships I’ve made growing with this team and the opportunity to lead as a captain my senior year. This program will forever hold a special place in my heart. Go Hawks!

Moving on, I will be swimming for West Virginia University. I will be majoring in Exercise Physiology with future plans of becoming an Occupational Therapist.
