Parent Training

MC Swim & Dive Parents,

There are a few jobs that require training for the swim/dive season. If you are new to high school swimming, we have to set up the deck for a certain number of meets. This set-up includes putting out tables and chairs for scoring, setting up the timing console, setting up the computer area, setting up the starter, and setting up the timing system, which includes the touchpads and plungers.

We really need NEW parents to the team to train (especially Freshman and Sophomore parents). Once you learn, you don’t need to train again. We have a few experienced parents in this area but they have seniors, and we need new people to learn. Please consider training.

Training is this weekend, Saturday, 10/27 at West Gwinnett Aquatic Center:

9:00 a.m. Deck set up, console operator and meet directors

10:30 a.m. Dive practice for all divers and a mock meet for DIVE parent training. All NEW dive parents should attend because you will be working the dive side of each meet.

1:00 p.m. Scoring Table & Computer operator. Bring your TEAM LAPTOP.

Deck Worker Training 9:00 a.m.

Covers the setup, operation, console and breakdown of timing and scoring equipment. (We need people who know how to do this so we can have help setting up and breaking down a deck for a meet, and help with the timing console and computers)

Who should attend: NEW Meet Directors, NEW Scoring Table Volunteers, NEW Console Operators, or NEW Setup/Breakdown Volunteers. If you signed up for this job and have never done it before, you should attend training.

Volunteers will be split into two groups, with a training focus on EITHER deck setup/breakdown, OR scoring table setup/breakdown and console training.

Scoring Table & Computer Operators Training 1:00 p.m.

Training for scoring table workers that will be responsible for operation of the meet computer before, during, and after the meet.

Who should attend: Required for all NEW computer operators, but open to anyone who may need a refresher.

BRING TEAM LAPTOP WITH THE HY-Tek meet manager loaded on it.

First time computer operators with the High School swimming MUST attend training.

Please let me know if you are going to the training.

GO, HAWKS!
