GHSA State Meet Summary 2020
Congratulations to the swim team for their outstanding performance in the GHSA State Championship Meet. Both teams performed incredibly well!! Both teams finished 6th!!!
Jake Magahey overcame illness this week and led the
way with two individual first place finishes, two Automatic
All-American times, and a new State and School Record
in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:34.37! He also won the
500 freestyle with an outstanding time of
4:16.47! He was just shy of his own National Record!
The men’s 400 free
relay team of Daniel Roshka, Nicholas Kalenik, Will Pierce, Jake Magahey finished
2nd with an Automatic All-American time and New
School Record (3:06.09)! In this
relay Jake Magahey anchored with a blistering split of 42.40!! It was the fastest split in the entire meet!
The men’s 200 medley
relay team of Jake Magahey, Chase Childs, Jackson Ward, Nicholas Kalenik finished
2nd (1:34.52) and earned All-American Consideration!
The women’s 200 medley
relay team of Abigail Tashlein, Sydney Tashlein, Jordan Hildebrand, Mia
Walters finished 4th (1:48.59)!
The women’s 400 free relay of Abigail Tashlein, Tristen Thompson, Mia
Walters, Jordan Hildebrand finished 6th (3:35.92)!
The women’s 200 free relay team of Sydney Tashlein, Lainey Lioi, Vivien
Rothwell, Tristen Thompson finished 9th (1:41.69)!
The men’s 200 free
relay team of Jackson Ward, Logan Paugh, Daniel Roshka, Will Pierce finished 14th (1:30.16)!

(200 free, 500 free), Alina Inthavong (200 IM, 100 fly), Lainey
Lioi (50 free, 100 free), Ethan Nordman (100 free), Logan
Paugh (50 free, 100 free), Payton Potlock-Pizano (100
breast), Daniel Roshka (200 free, 100 free), Vivien Rothwell
(100 fly, 100 back), Aidan Van Derhei (500 free), and Caroline
Weinhart (200 free, 100 fly). Luke Pelland qualified and was an alternate!
This year we had many
swimmers earn special recognition by qualifying for state and county in each
and every event. We award the Iron Hawk for qualifying for state
in all 8 swimming events, Silver Hawk for qualifying for state
in at least 2 swimming events and county in the remaining swimming
events, Bronze Hawk for qualifying for state in less than 2
events and county in the remaining events, and Soaring Hawk for
divers that qualify for state in both the 11-dive and 6-dive format.
Iron Hawk: Jordan Hildebrand, Nicholas Kalenik, Jake Magahey, Logan Paugh, Will Pierce, Abigail Tashlein, Sydney Tashlein, and Jackson Ward.
Silver Hawk: Tristen Thompson (7 state cuts), Mia Walters (7 state cuts), Daniel Roshka (6 state cuts), Will Skidmore (6 state cuts), Audrey Privett (5 state cuts), Vivien Rothwell (5 state cuts), Aidan Van Derhei (2 state cuts), Hunter Dunnington (2 state cuts), Alina Inthavong (2 state cuts), Jacob Battle (2 state cuts), and Caroline Weinhart (2 state cuts).
Bronze Hawk: Claire Grant, and Anna Smith.
Congratulations to all of the swimmers for their outstanding effort, spirit and sportsmanship! It was great to see the team rally around each other and cheer each other and support them to reach their goals! The coaches are extremely proud of each and every swimmer and diver. This team is special!
