GHSA 7A State Meet Summary - 6 Feb 2021

Congratulations to the swim team for their outstanding performance in the GHSA 7A State Championship Meet. Both teams performed well!!! The women’s team finished 6th and the men’s team finished 14th!

The relays performed well: Vivien Rothwell, Sydney Tashlein, Jordan Hildebrand, Mia Walters (200 medley relay - 1:48.64 – 4th); Will Pierce, Aidan Van Derhei, Will Skidmore, Daniel Roshka (400 free relay – 3:14.08 – 7th); Jordan Hildebrand, Audrey Privett, Iris Ochoa, Mia Walters (400 free relay – 3:41.67 – 9th); Sydney Tashlein, Audrey Privett, Vivien Rothwell, Iris Ochoa (200 free relay – 1:43.43 – 15th); Will Skidmore, Daniel Roshka, Will Pierce, London Brown (200 medley relay – 1:42.62 – 18th); and London Brown, Hunter Dunnington, Aidan Van Derhei, Keegan Privett (200 free relay – 1:35.10 – 23rd).

The following swimmers performed well in the meet: Will Skidmore (200 free – 8th , 500 free – 4th), Jordan Hildebrand (50 free – 7th, 100 free – 6th), Mia Walters (200 free – 5rd, 100 fly – 9th), Daniel Roshka (200 free – 9th, 100 free – 12th), Sydney Tashlein (200 IM - 10th, 100 breast – 15th), Audrey Privett (200 IM – 25th, 100 breast – 9th), Vivien Rothwell (100 fly, - 20th, 100 back – 13th), Hunter Dunnington (200 IM – 38th, 100 breast – 19th), Iris Ochoa (50 free – 20th, 100 free – 26th), Will Pierce (50 free – 24th, 100 fly – 20th), Aidan Van Derhei (200 free – 25th, 500 free - 21st), Tristen Thompson (50 free – 30th, 100 free – 28th), Keegan Privett (200 free – 26th, 500 free – 25th), Faby Pena Damoni (100 breast – 30th), Payton Potlock-Pizano (100 breast – 33rd), Weston Skidmore (100 back – 52nd), and London Brown (200 medley relay, 200 free relay).

We have many swimmers earn special recognition by qualifying for state and county in each and every event. We award the Iron Hawk for qualifying for state in all 8 swimming events, Silver Hawk for qualifying for state in at least 2 swimming events and county in the remaining swimming events, Bronze Hawk for qualifying for state in less than 2 events and county in the remaining events, and Soaring Hawk for divers that qualify for state in both the 11-dive and 6-dive format.

Iron Hawk: Jordan Hildebrand, Will Skidmore, Sydney Tashlein, and Mia Walters

Silver Hawk: Daniel Roshka (7 state cuts), Vivien Rothwell (6 state cuts), Will Pierce (5 state cuts), Iris Ochoa (4 state cuts), Audrey Privett (4 state cuts), and Hunter Dunnington (2 state cuts).

Bronze Hawk: Faby Pena Damoni (1 state cut) and Joseph Henley.


Congratulations to our state meet participating seniors that competed in their last meet:  Hunter Dunnington, Will Pierce, Aidan Van Derhei, and Mia Walters!  Thanks for your leadership, dedication, and commitment!  

A special thanks to coaches that worked so hard to help these student/athletes reach their goals: Laurel Christopher, Kali Dasher, and Sydney Coleman!!!

We are currently working on putting together some form of awards ceremony. We are not allowed to have a formal banquet like we have had in the past. More details will be sent out soon.

Congratulations to all of the swimmers and divers for an outstanding season! It is a testament to all of the athletes and families that we were able to have such a great season during this pandemic! Thanks to everyone for supporting the program and the athletes!  The results are attached.
