Gwi Co Meet Summary
Congratulations to the girls’ and boys’ swimming and diving team for their outstanding performance at the Gwinnett County Championship Meet this weekend. The girls’ team finished 3rd and the boys’ team finished 4th in an extremely competitive meet! The entire team, both swimmers and divers, performed extremely well and represented our school with tremendous class, spirit, and sportsmanship! The team showed tremendous improvement in their times and diving scores!!!! We are extremely proud of all of athletes!
New school records were set by Iris Ochoa in the 50 free with a time of 24.10 and by Leah McCarthy in both the 6-dive event with a score of 313.00 and the 12-dive event with a score 604.45.
State qualifying times were achieved by Allison Shin (200 free, 100 back), Will Skidmore (200 IM, 100 fly), Weston Skidmore (200 IM, 100 back), Boris Basic (50 free), Iris Ochoa (50 free, 100 free), Grace Smith (50 free, 100 fly), Emily Johnson (50 free), Leah McCarthy (diving), Morris Peele (100 fly), Vivien Rothwell (100 fly, 100 back), Cooper Wilhoit (100 free, 100 back), Jackson Fleming (500 free), Lilly Murphy (500 free), Ryan Ross (100 back), and Payton Potlock-Pizano (100 breast).
The relays performed EXTREMELY WELL: Vivien Rothwell, Iris Ochoa, Grace Smith, Emily Johnson (200 Med Rel – 3rd); Weston Skidmore, Payton Potlock-Pizano, Morris Peele, Vlad Fratiloiu (200 Med. Rel – 6th); Adelaine Dunnington, Emily Johnson, Grace Smith, Iris Ochoa (200 Free Rel – 5th); Caleb Jolly, Boris Basic, Cooper Wilhoit, Will Skidmore (200 Free Rel – 4th); Vivien Rothwell, Marlee Carmichael, Aubrey Harper, Allison Shin (400 Free Rel – 4th); and Weston Skidmore, Cooper Wilhoit, Boris Basic, Will Skidmore (400 Free Rel – 4th).
Vivien Rothwell won the 100 fly with a time of 55.80! Other top 10 finishers were: Leah McCarthy (diving – 2nd), Iris Ochoa (50 free – 2nd, 100 free – 4th), Vivien Rothwell (100 back – 3rd), Will Skidmore (200 IM – 2nd, 100 fly – 5th), Weston Skidmore (200 IM - 6th, 100 back – 6th), Cooper Wilhoit (100 free – 9th), and Lilly Murphy (500 free – 10th).

The last meet of the season will be the GHSA State Championship Meet. The diving will be held at The Westminster Schools on Jan. 31. The swimming will be held at GT on Feb. 1.
