Congratulations to the girls’ and boys’ swimming and diving team for their outstanding performance at the GHSA State Championship Meet this week. The girls’ team finished 10th and the boys’ team finished 13th in an extremely competitive meet! The entire team, both swimmers and divers, performed extremely well and represented our school with tremendous class, spirit, and sportsmanship! We are extremely proud of all of athletes!

The relays performed EXTREMELY WELL: Vivien Rothwell, Iris Ochoa, Grace Smith, Emily Johnson (200 Med Rel – 11th); Weston Skidmore, Payton Potlock-Pizano, Brayden Williams, Boris Basic (200 Med. Rel – 15th); Vivien Rothwell, Emily Johnson, Grace Smith, Iris Ochoa (200 Free Rel – 6th); Brayden Williams, Boris Basic, Cooper Wilhoit, Will Skidmore (200 Free Rel – 10th); Adelaine Dunnington, Emily Johnson, Lilly Murphy, Allison Shin (400 Free Rel – 20th); and Weston Skidmore, Cooper Wilhoit, Boris Basic, Will Skidmore (400 Free Rel – 11th).

The team was led individually by Vivien Rothwell (100 fly – 3rd, 100 back- 6th), Iris Ochoa (50 free – 4th, 100 free – 5th), Leah McCarthy (diving – 6th), Will Skidmore (200 IM – 5th, 100 fly – 9th), and Grace Smith (100 fly – 14th).

The following swimmers and divers also swam well: Boris Basic (50 free), Jackson Fleming (500 free), Emily Johnson (50 free), Lilly Murphy (500 free), Morris Peele (100 fly), Payton Potlock-Pizano (100 breast), Ryan Ross (100 back), Allison Shin (200 free, 100 back), Weston Skidmore (200 IM, 100 back), Grace Smith (50 free), Cooper Wilhoit (100 free, 100 back), and Brayden Williams (50 free, 100 fly).

A special congratulations to the swimmers that achieved the honor of Iron, Silver, Bronze, or Soaring Hawk recognition:

Iron Hawk (qualifies for state in all 8 individual swimming events): Iris Ochoa, Vivien Rothwell, and Will Skidmore.

Silver Hawk (qualifies for state in 2 or more swimming events and county in the remaining events): Weston Skidmore, Cooper Wilhoit, and Brayden Williams.

Bronze Hawk (qualifies for county in all 8 swimming events): Jackson Bollier, Jackson Fleming, Alina Inthavong, Justin Kurgan, Ryan Ross, Evan Smola and Kate Thigpen.

Soaring Hawk (qualifies for state in both the 6 and 11 dive events): Leah McCarthy

We want to recognize our outstanding seniors that participated in the state meet: Boris Basic, Payton Potlock-Pizano, Vivien Rothwell, Will Skidmore, Cooper Wilhoit, and Brayden Williams. We are extremely proud of this special group not only for the dedication to the the program, but for their outstanding performance in the classroom and their outstanding spirit and sportsmanship!
